Everyone’s focus these days has been on the economy. I have had many discussions and even meetings about the effect of the economy on our lives and on our church. It seems to be all anyone wants to talk about! And now that we have had a slight upward turn in the stock market, I actually begin to hear some signs of (albeit reserved) hope.
And then there was this event that happened this week: we were driving around, my focus on another economic discussion held previously that day, and Kirsten blurted out, “look at all the flowers! It must be spring!” And I thought, “you know, if she hadn’t said something, I would have completely missed those!”
I also read this week of a family that, at the end of each day, took time to share their “surprise” of the day: how they experienced God by surprise in a kind word, an act of generosity, or even in the beauty of creation. And it has transformed their family!
May we each experience the joy and wonder of God’s daily ‘surprises,’ and look past our earthly concerns to truly see them, knowing the best is yet to be!
